30 Paintings in 30 Days – Day 11 – Presence

It’s been a weird kind of day but in this late evening I’m still left with a warm glow kind of feeling, I guess it poured out onto the canvas as well. Personally I sense something’s there, something’s with us in the forest. Maybe a whole hoard of small things, maybe something angelic, maybe a UFO, who knows. Maybe for someone else there’s simply the sunlight. Nothing more awesome than nature, you know? Whatever you see is great.

30 Paintings in 30 Days – Day 9 – Autumn Sky

Oh how I love these colours! I love playing around with bright! Probably going to have to touch up the white tomorrow after it’s all dried, the white parts do tend to dull a bit since I often use them slightly diluted.

I should be sleeping by now, so I’m hurrying off to bed right away. Got some errands to run tomorrow and also I’ve suddenly got this major urge to be up early enough in the mornings to take a short walk. Maybe it’s wishful thinking, maybe it’s a good idea, we’ll see. Good night for now!

30 Paintings in 30 Days – Day 8 – Mystic Woods

There’s signs of foliage yellowing here in southern Finland right now. It’s such a warm September it feels unreal to think that there’s going to be an actual fall soon. Feeling pretty tired out tonight so I’m calling this painting “Mystic Woods” and leaving it at that, hoping I won’t regret the title tomorrow morning when my brain is up for thinking again.

“Mystic Woods”, acrylics on canvas paper, about the size of A4.

I like the way the paintings look side by side. Since I’ve been in a similar mood or state of mind while painting both, they feel very much related. I also try to use somewhat similar colours, whatever blend is left from making the start of the first painting.

30 Paintings in 30 Days – Day 7 – Love

Oh boy did I have problems getting this one to look right. For the longest time it just looked like I had stopped painting too soon, so I kept going. Thankfully that paid off, but I did lose the lovely brown and yellow hill ground that I had liked so much. For some reason whenever I tried making grass it just looked wrong, it worked better as growth with flowers. And love, of course, is what’s on my heart today, so although I had envisioned something different, this is where I ended up.

“Love”, acrylic paint on canvas paper, about the size of an A4.

30 Paintings in 30 Days – Day 6 – Lush

I think I’m going to have to add some shading to the path before I declare this one absolutely done, but for now here it is – lush.

“Lush”, acrylic painting on canvas paper, about the size of an A4.

Below are some progress shots. About the previous painting – I started off with just one deer but then I felt like I just couldn’t leave him alone there, my heart was with him after all. And slowly the scene turned more blossomy, more spring-like, because they have an emotional bond even if they’re not touching. And today’s painting, I decided to include a semi-transparent parrot figure as one of the focal points, to give it an extra dimension. I didn’t know where it was going at first, all I could think was “trees, must have trees”.

I was painting them more or less simultaneously, painting on one while I was figuring out the other.

30 Paintings in 30 Days – Day 4 – The Jewel Tree

Stumped, I asked my facebook peeps about what to call this one and a friend came up with a few suggestions. I went with “The Jewel Tree”. By the way, the namegiver makes soaps and essential oil mixes and lip balms over at Handscuffle Handcrafts if ya’ll are interested in such lovely things.

Acrylics on canvas paper, about A4 size.

It all started with a moody purple landscape..

And there was a moment when I thought this painting would have to go into the bin. But hey, it turned out alright after all!

30 Paintings in 30 Days – Day 3 – Glow

Today’s painting was one I went back and forth with a lot, pondering if I should add more to it. But every time I looked at it I got such a sense of peace and expectation that I decided not to mess with it further, just added a couple of birds for balance and interest.

“Glow”. Acrylic on canvas paper. Slightly smaller than an A4.

This is what my work space looks like right now. I like to work on my couch but maybe things are getting a bit ridiculous. No place to sit.

30 Paintings – Day 2 – Night Watcher

This is the pair to the first painting yesterday. I think they look best side by side.

Hand painted using acrylic paint. Slightly smaller than an A4 paper. Dated and signed in pencil underneath, after this picture was taken. Might be for sale later.

See what I mean..? They complement eachother nicely. Or maybe it’s just because I painted them like that, now I’m emotionally attached to them being side by side.
